Thursday at last! :la:

Awesome work with the limericks last week! We were very impressed by all your rhymes. One could say you really hit it out of the park. :slow:

We have our three winners!

:star: blueheron93
There once was a bowler, quite lame.
Ardent Ashlee was her nickname.
She cheered at her spare,
Threw her hands in the air
Only to see it was in the wrong lane.

:star: callerofcrows
The hockey team glared at their mate.
He thought, "Well, isn't this great!"
"I lost Andy's dare,
so I dress I did wear,
and now I'm "that kid" they all hate!"

See the full story here!

:star: BonslyGuy
Golf is a game that will bring home the goods
And congregate fans from all neighborhoods
You'd really enjoy it
Though greed can destroy it
Especially if your name is Woods.

And a special honorable mention to Jonas72 and Moosplauze for their awesome limerick comment thread here!

For this week, we want you to explore your imagination. In the spirit of Llamahog Day, your task is to create a hybrid of two animals and depict what it would look like in a dA muro comment to this Journal!

We all know about the llamahog, liger, and centaur. But what about otterfish? Giraffecat? Your creation is completely up to you!

Once you've got an idea, post a comment to this Journal with:
:bulletyellow: Your creation's name
:bulletyellow: A short description
:bulletyellow: A drawing of it in a dA muro comment

:target: Your entry must have all three of the above to be considered for the prize!

We'll choose three winners who will be chosen based on creativity, inclusion of all three elements above, uniqueness, visual impact, and wildness. Our three winners will receive the Black dA Laptop Messenger Bag and 500 Points!

Get your entries in by Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 11:59 PM Los Angeles, CA, time. This contest is open to all Premium Members! :la:

Put on your creativity cap and think of the most epic animal hybrid known to man. Name your creation, describe it, and depict it in a dA muro comment to be entered to win! :eager:

The Leonyfen ( Lee-oh-nee-fen )
This hybrid cross between a snow leopard and a lionfish can be found in the extreme climates, whether it is the heat of the tropics or the freezing of the icy regions. This unique mammal can not only breathe under the surface of water with the gills on its throat, but can also thrive on land. They have an interesting cross of fur and smooth skin that allows for the coming and going as they please. The body of the Leonyfen actually semi resembles that of an otter. Interesting features are the webbed digits, poisonous spikes along the tail, and fin-like appendages. With colours that closely resemble both species, the white and black stripes and spots help the Leonyfen to be a well distinguished predator. Depending on the are of which it resides the Leonyfen will also have coloured areas that determine the environment that it was raised. In the example below the spots are a light glacier blue that represents the icy habitat. The main diet of the Leonyfen is squid, fish, and smaller land herbivores such as snow shoe hares depending on the current location. The Leonyfen uses its tentacle-like appendages to emit a zap to the prey, leaving it stunned. As the prey is stuck there with no chance of escape, the Leonyfen uses either its long sharp teeth or its venom. They are incredibly fast in water and on land so they can easily catch prey and escape danger. When it comes to human contact, the Leonyfen is very timid. They take care to stay close to the caves and reefs that they inhabit. These creatures are extremely rare and hard to come by so not many people have actually seen them. If they had seen them, it probably would have ended close to the super bowl commercial with the car and the cheetah.

The (very weird and sort of half-assed) Elebird.
I'm sure people have done this before, but let's get on with this, shall we?

The Elebird's size ranges from the size of a normal songbird to the size of a household cat. Yes, it is small(-ish). Its long, flexible beak can snatch its food (e.g berries, seeds, leaves, etc.) from a long distance. It can also use its tusks to stab at food that is up close.

These Elebirds mostly live in place with decent rainfall and plenty of wildlife.

:)

Scorporilla

The gorilla knew his strength and power and used it to control its territory. Behold, a day walking quietly in his mountain in the Congo, he was stayed by a small scorpion that seemed harmless before the giant gorilla. But the gorilla discovered that more powerful than himself, was that little scorpion. And after an agonizing night to the brink of death, the gorilla was revived in the form of a creature more powerful than he and Scorpion together, the deadly and invincible Scorporilla.
